Your analog time stays analog

Stay in your flow

No dictionary detours, no phone on the table. Mark and read on — the lookup happens later, automatically.

Reduce your screen time

Skip the tedious process of looking up unknown vocabulary manually to have more time for the enjoyable parts of language learning and reading.

Understand everything, eventually

Every marked word comes back as a card with its sentence from your book, scheduled just before you'd forget it.

C1 is where courses end and books begin.

Spanish · ~93,000 words Educated native · ~28,000 C1 · ~9,000

The vocabulary between you and a native speaker doesn't live in textbooks. It lives in novels. scanvocab makes the process of picking it up effortless.

How do I mark words?

However you like — highlighter, underline, or a circle around the word. Keep marking the way you already do; we'll find them.

What photos work?

A flat page in daylight is ideal — but curved pages, café lighting and a bit of skew work too. Tap an example to see it full size.

What level do I need?

Roughly B1/B2 and up: you should be able to read a book in your target language and follow what's going on. scanvocab is for the words you don't yet know — not for learning from zero.

How do I use it?

Right in your browser, or install it to your home screen and use it like an app.

Do I need a credit card to register?

No. An email address is all you need to start on the free tier.

Can I get my data out?

Yes — export everything to CSV any time.
